NOB_Hyderabad: Khairatabad Police Station Detective Inspector (DI) Balaswamy was arrested by Saidabad Police on Sunday on allegations of cheating a woman on the pretext of marriage. He was produced before the court and sent to judicial remand.

According to the complaint, Balaswamy had come in contact with the woman when he was posted as DI at Saidabad Police Station earlier. The woman’s husband was seriously ill at that time.

The complainant alleged that Balaswamy promised to marry her after her husband’s death, saying “Your husband will not live long, I will marry you and support you,” and maintained a physical relationship since 2017 on the pretext of marriage. Even after her husband’s death, he allegedly kept postponing marriage.

In 2024, the woman reportedly learned that Balaswamy was already married with children. When confronted, he allegedly claimed he had divorced his wife and continued the relationship.

From January 2025, he allegedly started avoiding her and refused to marry, following which the woman approached Saidabad Police.

Based on her written complaint, Saidabad Police registered a case under Crime No. 349/2026 and arrested him. Investigation is underway.
