Centre responds to Warangal MP Dr. Kadiyam Kavya’s Plea: “Railway Rakes” allocated for grain transport

NOB- Warangal news: Warangal Member of Parliament, Dr. Kadiyam Kavya, had requested the Central Government to allocate an adequate number of “Railway Rakes” for the transportation of grain (paddy) and cotton within Telangana. In response to this request, the Union Minister of State for Railways, Ravneet Singh Bittu, assured Warangal MP Dr. Kadiyam Kavya via a letter that an ample supply of “Railway Rakes” would be allocated. The Minister penned this letter on March 6th 2026, responding to an issue raised by Warangal MP Dr. Kadiyam Kavya in the Lok Sabha on December 9th, 2025, under Rule 377. MP Dr. Kadiyam Kavya had specifically requested the provision of additional “Railway Rakes” to facilitate the transportation of agricultural produce such as grain and cotton within Telangana. Responding to this context, the Minister stated that railway rakes for the transportation of food grains and agricultural produce are allocated based on the requirements submitted by the respective State Governments and the Food Corporation of India (FCI). He further explained that these allocations are determined by taking into account daily requirements, the availability of railway coaches, the capacity of railway routes, and operational conditions. The Minister informed that, during the current financial year up until January 2026 approximately 3.59 million tonnes of grain (equivalent to about 1,329 railway rakes) had been loaded in Telangana through the Food Corporation of India. He clarified that “Railway Rakes” are being provided on a daily basis to ensure the uninterrupted transportation of grain and other food commodities. The Minister stated that Indian Railways is committed to the transportation of agricultural produce. Warangal MP Dr. Kadiyam Kavya remarked that these measures would be immensely helpful in facilitating the transportation of farmers’ crops.
