BRS Legal Cell Condemns Attack on Women MLAs

NOB_NIZAMABAD:Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Nizamabad District Legal Cell Convener Dadannagari Madhusudan Rao on Sunday termed the incident at Telangana Assembly premises as a black day for womanhood under Congress rule.

Addressing the media, Madhusudan Rao said, “An irreparable insult to women was done in front of the Telangana Legislative Assembly. The way police behaved with Telangana movement activists, former ministers and present MLAs is a blot on civil society.”

He strongly condemned the police action against elected representatives, especially the alleged manhandling of women MLAs. “Behaving rudely with women legislators is a grave mistake,” he said.

He said wearing black clothes and protesting is legal and it is a lesson taught by the Telangana separate statehood movement.

“The people who never participated in the Telangana movement are running the government today. They are scared even to see a protest. Today’s incident proves it. Congress leaders have crossed all limits and are responsible for bringing disrepute to democracy,” he alleged.

Madhusudan Rao demanded legal action against the police personnel who resorted to physical attack on BRS MLAs and against the Congress leaders who instigated them.

Assembly gate turns tense

BRS MLAs had arrived in black T-shirts at Gun Park Martyrs Memorial and marched towards the Assembly to protest against the government. Police stopped them at the gate, leading to pushing and shoving in which Harish Rao and Jagadish Reddy were injured. BRS alleged that women MLAs Sabitha Indra Reddy, Sunitha Lakshma Reddy and Satyavathi Rathod were manhandled.
