NOB-Kondaveedu news: A very sad incident has taken place in Kondaveedu Kota limits of Yedlapadu mandal. A couple committed suicide by consuming pesticide due to the pain of not being able to bear the separation. According to the police, a lover, Manikantha Raju (20), from Swarnabharat Nagar, Guntur, and a young woman from Ankamma Nagar have been in love for the past two years. However, as the elders did not agree to their marriage, the young woman was recently married to another man. The young woman, who was upset because she could not be with her husband after marriage, returned to Guntur. In this context, on the 07.04.2026, she went to Kondaveedu Kota with Manikantha Raju, where both of them consumed pesticide called ‘Spyker’ and attempted suicide. The locals who noticed them immediately rushed them to the Guntur Government Hospital by 108 ambulance. While Manikantha Raju was battling for his life in the hospital, he passed away on the evening of the 08.04.2026, while the young woman’s condition deteriorated and she passed away on the 09.04.2026. The incident, which took place in the tourist area of Kondaveedu Kota, has caused a stir locally. Based on the complaint filed by the mothers of the deceased, SI T. Sivaramakrishna has registered a case and is investigating. The postmortem of Raju’s body was completed on 09.04.2023 and handed over to the family members, while the postmortem of the young woman’s body was conducted on 10.04.2026, police said.
