
NOB-Nalgonda news: A foreigner involved in cheating innocent people using fake Rs.500 currency bundles was arrested by Thipparthi police in Nalgonda district said District SP Sharath Chandra Pawar, IPS According to police investigation, the accused came to India about two years ago from Mali and was residing in Bengaluru, selling African fruits and other items. Later, he teamed up with other foreign nationals and hatched a plan to cheat people through WhatsApp by offering fake currency deals. They lured victims by promising Rs.5 lakh worth of Rs.500 notes in exchange for Rs.1 lakh genuine cash. To gain trust, they demonstrated a trick where black-coated paper appeared to convert into real currency using a chemical solution. On 06-04-2026, the accused cheated a victim near Mallepally Varigudem Dhaba by taking Rs.1 lakh and handing over a bundle with only four genuine Rs.500 notes on top and the rest black papers. When the victim later realized the fraud, he, along with his friend, planned a trap. On 09-04-2026 at around 12:30 PM near Thipparthi Railway Station, the accused was caught by the victim and handed over to police.

The accused has previous cases registered in Malkajgiri Police Station. District SP advised the public to stay alert against such fake currency scams and report suspicious activities immediately to the nearest police station. Police officials involved in cracking the case were appreciated.
