NOB-Mahabubabad news: Dr. Ravi Rathod, the District Medical and Health Officer of Mahabubabad, stated in a press release on 24.04.2026 that “World Malaria Day” is observed globally every year on April 25th. He noted that, for the year 2026, the World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a rallying cry for the eradication of malaria: “It’s time to end malaria: Innovate. Implement. Impact.”He emphasized that malaria poses a significant challenge to public health, noting that the risk of its transmission is particularly high during the rainy season. Malaria is an infectious disease transmitted through mosquitoes. The government is implementing various measures to completely reduce the incidence of malaria cases within the district. Dr. Rathod pointed out that while malaria cases in the district have shown a downward trend compared to the previous year, it remains absolutely essential to maintain a high level of vigilance. The primary objective of observing this day is to raise public awareness regarding malaria, strengthen mosquito control measures, and encourage people to undergo testing and seek treatment at the earliest stages of the disease. Outlining the measures being undertaken in the district to prevent malaria, officials highlighted the conduct of fever surveys in villages, immediate blood testing for suspected cases, the provision of prompt treatment for positive cases, the elimination of stagnant water to curb mosquito breeding, and the implementation of fogging and larvicidal measures wherever necessary. Furthermore, while advising the public on precautions to take against malaria, they emphasized the importance of preventing water stagnation in residential surroundings, using mosquito nets, wearing full-sleeved clothing, and immediately contacting the nearest health center upon the appearance of fever symptoms. They stated, “Malaria is a completely preventable disease, however, it can be eradicated only with the cooperation of the public. Let us all join hands to build a malaria-free society.”
